The digitization and the availability of broadband infrastructures are important tools to promote economic growth in an area. The optic fibre network in Piacenza is at citizens’ and businesses’ disposal. They can rely on a wide coverage in terms of landline and wireless network:

Broadband on landline network - ADSL coverage (> 2Mb / s): 95% (percentage of population), compared to 90.72% that is the average regional coverage.

Broadband on wireless network - ADSL coverage on Hiperlan or Wimax network (> 2Mb / s): 90%, compared to 84, 13% that is the average regional coverage.

Broadband on landline and wireless network – ADSL coverage (> 2Mb / s): 99%, in contrast with the regional 96.99%.

For the few industrial areas not served, the fibres available for each company can be switched by an authorized dealer or by LepidaSpA, an in-house IT company of the region and of the municipalities of Emilia Romagna, which will ensure that the service is otherwise provided by a local operator.
